Drawing inspiration from the form of a sand dune, thepavilion is a reference to this symbolic feature of the desert landscape shared by each of the seven emirates.Awarded as the best mid-size building constructed in 2009–2010, granted by the Illinois Society of Structural Engineers. It brought international recognition for the building itself, and was the first ever made by the society to any World EXPO.
